In 1984 during the Olympic Games in Los Angeles, Adidas released Adidas LA Trainer. This was the first trainer who used a patented peg cushioning system. Called as the Vario Shock Absorption System. This system made use of colored heel pegs to let athletes customise their cushioning to fit their weight, running surface, and style. It allows The user to swap plugs to get hard, medium, or soft cushioning. At that year, Adidas LA Trainer was the top line training shoe and super popular.
LA Trainer retired from Adidas catalog, after being popular for a long time. Adidas brought back this trainer again for a special edition to celebrate the World Cup. In 2016, Adidas reissued it again as Adidas LA Trainer OG. And in 2011, Adidas together with Foot Locker Europe made the new silhouettes for LA Trainer.
